With Mike James scoring 11 of Panathinaikos’ last 15 points, the Prasini defeated Aris 70-54 in Sunday’s Basket League derby.
Despite Panathinaikos taking a 21 point lead in the first half, Aris pulled within 4 points with 7 minutes remaining in the game. However, Mike James caught fire in the final minutes scoring 11 of Panathinaikos’ 15 points to give his side a rather easy 70-54 win in the end. Panathinaikos were only strong in the second and fourth quarters while Aris fought for the win, but “collapsed” in the final 7:30 of play.
James led Panathinaikos with 19 points (13 in the fourth quarter) while KC Rivers scored 10 points for the hosts. Aris’ leading scorer was Jankovic as Jenkins scored 12 points for the visitors.
Olympiacos were also victorious today by easily defeating Lavrio 84-52 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. The win keeps Olympiacos first in the Basket League standings as Panathinaikos sit second, despite having the same record with their rivals. Aris are tied for fourth with PAOK and Kolossos Rodou.
