Kostas Mitroglou...Europe’s Leading Scorer in 2017
Kostas Mitroglou is Europe’s leading goal scorer for 2017!
Kostas Mitroglou has caught fire for Benfica in 2017 having scored 15 goals since the beginning of the year. Mitroglou’s 15 goals makes him the “hottest” striker in European football, having scored more goals than any other player across the continent.
He leads bigs names such as Lionel Messi (14 goals), Cristiano Ronaldo (7 goals), Robert Lewandowski (8 goals), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (9 goals), Alexandre Lacazette (11 goals), Diego Costa (4 goals), Harry Kane (14 goals), Gonzalo Higuain (10 goals), Edin Dzeko (11 goals), Edinson Cavani (10 goals), and many others.
Panathinaikos’ Marcus Berg is also high on the list after scoring a hat-trick on Saturday against Veria increasing his tally to 12 goals in 2017.
Mitroglou is in the best form of his career and has scored 24 goals this season for Benfica, one away from last year’s total of 25 goals. Thirteen goals have come in league play, 10 in the Portuguese Cup and Portuguese League Cup, and one in the Champions League (vs Dortmund in the Round of 16).
Mitroglou’s impressive form is coming at the right time as our National Team is scheduled to play their most difficult World Cup qualifier when they travel to face Belgium later this month.
