Mitroglou Becomes Benfica’s 7th All-Time “Foreign” Scorer
On Monday, Kostas Mitroglou scored his 25th goal of the season for Benfica and became the club’s seventh highest non-Portuguese scorer in club history.
Mitroglou’s fantastic season continued on Monday as he found the back of the net for a 25th time this season. The goal marked his 50th with the club making him Benfica’s seventh highest scorer amongst foreigners in club history.
Current Olympiacos forward, Oscar Cardozo, leads the ranking with 171 goals while Matts Magnusson is second with 84 goals. Jonas, who currently plays at Benfica with Mitroglou, is third with 77 goals, Maniche is fourth with 75 goals, Isaias is fifth with 71 goals, and Lima sits ahead of Mitroglou with 70 goals.
Mitroglou joined Benfica in 2015 and in his two seasons in Portugal, has managed to really make a name for himself. If he keeps up his current form it will not be long before he continues his climb in Benfica’s all time foreign scores in club history.
