Olympiacos defeated PAOK 3-0 set in the Greek League Cup Final to win the first title of the season. It is Olympiacos’ fourth League Cup title in five years.
As in previous encounters between Olympiacos and PAOK, a fierce battle was expected in today’s Greek League Cup Final in Piraeus. It was anything but that as Olympiacos dominated the match, defeating PAOK 3-0 set.
The first set was the closest of them all with Olympiacos winning 25-23 while the second and third sets were rather easily won by the Erythrolefki (25-16 and 25-21).
Cupkovic, Agamez, and Costa led Olympiacos to their first title of the season while PAOK’s numerous mistakes prevented them from contesting anything from today’s game
Olympiacos continued their dominance in the competition having now won four out of the last five titles. As for PAOK, the League Cup remains the only Greek cup the Dikefalos tou Vorra has yet to win in the club’s history.
Today’s match was the first of many expected this season as both Olympiacos and PAOK will be the favorites to contest both the Greek Volleyball Cup and Greek A1 Volley League title later on in the year.
