GREEK BASKET LEAGUE PLAYOFFS - SEMIFINALS (GAME 4)
|AEK||67 - 105||Panathinaikos|
Panathinaikos DEMOLISHED AEK 67-105 at the OAKA stadium to win the Basket League playoff semi-final series 3-1 and advance to the finals.
Panathinaikos put together a near perfect display against AEK in game 4 of the Greek Basket League Playoff Semi-finals on Monday, blowing out the Enosis 67-105. The Prasini looked like the team that had great success at the end of the Euroleague season before they were swept by Fenerbahce in the playoffs.
The visitors took a 15-1 lead two minutes into the game, a 20-point advantage (49-29) into halftime, and as the game went along their lead continued to increase. AEK were nowhere to be found on the court and they were handed the embarrassing defeat.
It was Nick Calathes who once against starred for the Prasini in the semi-final series, finishing the game with 17 points and 9 assists. Bourousis was also exceptional with his 15 points and 9 rebounds. Singleton added 16 points while James scored 14 points. Panathinaikos finished the game with 26 assists and went 13/23 from behind the arch and will look to put together similar numbers in the upcoming Finals series.
As for AEK, who had one of their worst games of the season, three players finished with double digits including Ukic (16 points), Mavrokefalidis (14 points), and Mavroeidis with 10 points. The hosts had only 10 assists in the game and 11 turnovers.
Panathinaikos will play in their FIFTEENTH straight Basket League Finals series and will await the winner of the other semifinal between Olympiacos and Aris. The Erythrolefki lead that series 2-0 and will hope to book their place in the finals when they host Aris on Thursday at the Peace and Friendship stadium.
If Olympiacos win on Thursday, the Finals series will begin on Sunday with Olympiacos enjoying home court advantage due to their first place finish in the regular season.
