Olympiacos are set to give six critical matches in 18 days which will likely determine their outlook in both the Superleague and Champions League ahead. In that time period, the Erythrolefki will play 3 Superleague fixture, including two derbies (v PAOK, at PAO), one cup fixture against Acharnaikos, and two matches against Spanish giants Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

The first test will be on Saturday away to third placed Panionios before traveling to the Catalan city for their midweek Champions League fixture. Two consecutive derbies will follow as Olympiacos host PAOK and then travel to the Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium for the derby of the eternal enemies between Panathinaikos. In between the two derbies, Olympiacos will give a Cup fixture away to Acharnaikos before hosting Barcelona on the tail end of their 18-day marathon.

Olympiacos have the potential to pick up key points in the upcoming SuperLeague matches to regain their lost ground, but are also at risk of falling further behind in the title race if the defending Superleague champions do not pick up good results. The Piraeus club have had a disappointing start to their season, their worst in 30 years.

In Europe, Olympiacos have yet to grab a point in a very difficult Champions League group after falling at home to Sporting Lisbon and away to Juventus. Although Olympiacos will be the clear outsiders in both matchups against Barcelona, the results in these two matchups and in the fixtures between Juventus and Sporting Lisbon will ultimately decide if Olympiacos can contest third place in the group and salvage a spot in the Europa League after the new year.

Takis Lemonis will hope to hit the reset button starting in Nea Smyrnis and guide the Erythrolefki through the tough schedule ahead. One thing is certain, the next 18-days will play a big role in Olympiacos’ season both domestically and in Europe.

Below is Olympiacos’ schedule for the next 18-days

14-Oct: Panionios - Olympiacos (SuperLeague)
18-Oct: Barcelona - Olympiacos (Champions League)
22-Oct: Olympiacos - PAOK (SuperLeague)
