AEK and Olympiacos to meet in Greek Cup quarter-finals
The 2017/2018 Greek Cup quarter-final draw took place today, with giants AEK Athens and Olympiacos Piraeus pitted against each other in the headline tie.
These teams met in a thrilling Greek Cup semi-final last season, as AEK won on the away goals rule after both sides traded road victories. Amazingly, in the space of just fourteen days, the two bitter rivals will play against each other three times. The two quarter-final legs will be sandwiched by a Super League match in Piraeus, a game which could become the potential title decider.
It’s been confirmed that the first leg between Olympiacos and AEK will be played on January 24 at the Karaiskakis Stadium. AEK host the return at the OAKA on either the 7th or 8th of February.
Elsewhere, Panionios were paired with Lamia, PAOK take on high flyers Atromitos in a tasty clash, and PAS Giannina face off against AEL Larissa.
First leg schedule:
Wednesday 24 January
Panionios - Lamia, 17:15 (Athens time)
Olympiacos - AEK, 19:30
PAOK - Atromitos, 21:45
Thursday 25 January
PAS Giannina - AEL, 19:30
Second legs to take place on February 7/8.
