AEK Break Losing Streak in Rethymno to Advance to Semifinals

AEK broke a 4-game losing streak away to Rethymno by defeating the Cretan side 70-81 in game 2 of the Basket League Playoffs Second round and marched on to the semifinals where they will face Panathinaikos.
One strong quarter was enough for AEK to record their first win in Rethymno after four defeats from four matches away to the Cretan side. Despite falling behind by double digits in the first quarter, the Enosis outscored their opponents 6-24 in the third quarter and went on to win game two 70-81 and the best of three series 2-0.
Dimitris Mavroeidis was AEK’s best player on the night finishing the game with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Ukic led AEK in scoring with 18 points but also finished with 6 rebounds and 4 assists while Milosevic added 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the visitors. For Rethymno, Lemon outscored his teammates with 14 points, but had 6 turnovers in the game. Despite the loss, the home fans gave their team a standing ovation for their successful season in the Basket League and their run to the second round of the playoffs.
AEK will face Panathinaikos in the semi-finals of the Greek Basket League Playoffs while Aris and Olympiacos battle it out in the other semi-final. The semifinals consists of a best of 5 series with Olympiacos and Panathinaikos enjoying home court advantage due to their better regular season records.
