AEK make return to Greek Volley League
Another ceback for AEK sports as the club’s volleyball team gained promotion to the Greek Volley League.
The Kitrinomavri comfortably defeated Apollon Athinon 3:0 set in the final of the A2 promotion Group A playoffs to secure a place in next year's Greek Volley League for the first time in three years. In the packed stadium in Rizoupoli, AEK swept their Athenian counterparts 25-17 in the first set, 25-21 in the second set, and dominated the third set to win 25-14.
AEK will look to keep their place in the Volley League after failing to stay in the First Division for more than two consecutive seasons the last 15 years. However, during that time frame, AEK did celebrate the biggest achievement in their club’s history, when winning the League Cup in 2014.
Komotini will join AEK in next year’s Volley League after the Thracian side booked their place in the first division with a 3:1 set win over X.A.N. Thessaloniki in the group B promotion playoff final. It will be Komotini’s third appearance in the A1 division and their first in 20 years.
