AEK Price Mantalos at €5 Million
AEK have set a €5-6 Million price tag on Petros Mantalos for any team interested in the Greece international. Araujo remains the number one target for the front line with rumors of Scocco's possible return to Europe attracting AEK's interest.
Petros Mantalos' good displays with AEK and his consistent place in Greece's starting XI have attracted the interest of teams in the Spanish La Liga. According to Live Sport, AEK will begin negotiations for the player's transfer at €5-6 Million. Last year the Enosis denied a €6 Million offer from Turkey, however with the player's contract ending in two years, AEK are more open to discussing their captain's possible transfer.
As for AEK's attacking line, Sergio Araujo remains the club's number one target. Although his stay at AEK remains a difficult scenario, the Kitrinomavri are willing to make every effort to keep him in Athens. Not only does Araujo's parent club Las Palmas and AEK have to come to an agreement for a permanent transfer or another loan deal, but the player must be willing to continue his career in Greece (have given mixed signals as of late).
Another name that has been tossed around, is former AEK player and fan favorite Nacho Scocco. The Argentine could be making a return back to Europe after playing for for his beloved Newell's Old Boys in Argentina and AEK are watching his situation closely.
As for AEK's current players, Giorgos Giakoumakis, who was on loan at Platanias, is the only "sure" striker in the roster for next season. The 22-year old had a great season with the Cretan club and he is ready to prove himself at AEK.
Big name signing, Hugo Almeida, had a disappointing season with the Kitrinomavri and the administration will begin talks with the Portuguese striker to break his contract and release the player. However, according to reports, Almeida has no intentions of leaving the club and he plans to partake in preseason training.
Finally, both Pekhart and Aravidis, whose contracts end this summer, are likely to be on their way out of the club at the end of the season.
On a final note, Kostas Galanopoulos was called up to the Greek U21 National Team for their upcoming friendlies. The 19-year old has had a tremendous second half of the season with AEK and was recognized with a call-up to the Ethniki Elpidon.
