AEK rated as Greece’s best team of 2017 in IFFHS rankings
Recently, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) released their 2017 summary, rating AEK Athens as Greece’s best team of the year.
Thanks to AEK’s successful campaign in the UEFA Europa League group stages, the Athenian giants made a huge jump from 164th position to 47th in the IFFHS European club ratings! Despite not winning a single title during 2017, AEK boast 167 points.
Nevertheless, reigning Greek champions Olympiacos aren’t far behind in 49th place with 165.5 points to their name. Interestingly, even taking into account the Thrylos’ disappointing Champions League performance, their rating hasn’t changed from last year. PAOK are next for the Greeks, occupying 60th position. Panathinaikos (141st) and Atromitos (221st) are the other Greek clubs in the top 400.
Leading Cypriot club APOEL Nicosia occupy an impressive 26th place, while Real Madrid topped the list in first position.
