That season, the Kitrinomavri managed to begin the year with six consecutive victories before a shock 1-2 defeat to Iraklis at the OAKA stadium on matchday seven. Under the guidance of coach Lorenzo Serra Ferrer, the 2007/08 AEK team housed a quality squad with players including Rivaldo, Lymberopoulos, Dellas, Zikos, Arruabarrena, Blanco, Manduca, and Papastathopoulos.

Ten years later, the Kitrinomavri have chalked up their best start since that 2007/08 season having racked up 13 points in their first five league fixtures. In the process, AEK have defeated Panetolikos, Larissa, Lamia, and rivals Olympiacos while dropping points away to PAS Giannina. This weekend, the Enosis has a tricky away test in Tripoli against Asteras.
