Alafouzos and Ouzounidis make plans for new season
Coach Marinos Ouzounidis and club president Giannis Alafouzos met to discuss the team's plans for the new season. Berg’s move to Al Ain will likely be finalized in the coming days while Omri Altman is expected to be the club’s first signings.
In the meeting, Ouzounidis and Alafouzos discussed three main topics surrounding the club including Lymberopoulos’ replacement, the possible departure of key players, and this summer’s signings. Firstly, a new technical director will be appointed immediately to replace Nikos Lymberopoulos, with multiple names on the table including Nikos Dabizas.
Marcus Berg’s departure has made main headlines at the club in recent days. The Prasini are willing to let the Swede go for less than their original asking price as the club faces financial trouble. This also goes for Moledo who has been rumored to a move to Besiktas. In any case, key players that depart will be replaced with a player of equal quality but of less cost.
As for Panathinaikos’ signing targets, the Prasini seem to be closing in on defender Dimitris Kolovetsios, who was recently released by AEK. Klonaridis, now played on load at the club since January, appears to be in negotiations with AEK, leaving Panathinaikos’ administration disappointed in his handling of the situation. According to reports. the midfielder had made a verbal agreement with the Prasini a month ago to continue with the club.
The Prasini have turned their interest elsewhere to Israeli Omri Altman. The Trifylli have offered Hapoel Tel-Aviv €150,000 and the winger’s move to Athens will likely be made official in the next days completing Panathinaikos’ first signing of the summer.
