Olympiacos refused to let their good season in the Euroleague come to an early end as they got the job done in a must win game 4 in Turkey, sending the series to game 5 in Greece. It was another spectacular display by Vassilis Spanoulis as he led Olympiacos’ charge to a 62-74 victory finishing the game with 18 points.
Anadolu Efes usd the electrifying atmosphere from the home fans to gain an early double-digit lead in the first quarter, but a much stronger second-quarter from the visitors brought them within three points (38-35) going into halftime.
Olympiacos put on a great defensive of display after the restart to gain their first lead since the early on in the first quarter, taking a small one point advantage into the final 10 minutes (54-55).
With the Olympiacos defense shutting down Efes on one end and the Olympiacos offense (led by Spanoulis) converting on the other end, the lead grew to 11-points (57-68) with just three minutes remaining. Green’s 3-pointer late on put the game out of reach (58-71) as the Erythrolefki celebrated a great victory on the road, 62-74, to tie the series at 2-2.
Spanoulis led the Olympiacos team with 18-points and big shots at critical instances in the game while Printezis and Greene finished with double digit points, 11 and 10 respectively. Granger led the home side with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
The final game of the series, game 5, will take place on Tuesday at the Stadio Eirinis kai Filias where Olympiacos will hope to use the home support in their quest to return to the Euroleague Final-4.
