Another gold for the ‘Lord of the Rings’
Eleftherios Petrounias proved unbeatable once again as he won gold at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics (AGF Trophy) World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Greek athlete scored a 15.333 in the final of the Men’s Rings event to win his eight straight gold medal in major competitions. For yet another competition, the ‘Lord of the Rings’ proved that he is the world’s best athlete in his respective sport.
Over the course of his dominance, Petrounias has won three consecutive European Championships (2015-2017), two World Championships (2015, 2017), the 2015 European games, and of course, gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Konstantinos Konstantinidis also represented Greece in the final of the Men’s Rings event and just missed out on the podium, claiming fourth spot with 14.700 points (Third placed went to China'S Xingyu Lan with a score of 14.833).
