Antzoulas called up to Fiorentina’s first team
Fiorentina called up two youngsters to their first team, including Greek defender Georgios Antzoulas.
In July 2018, Fiorentina came calling for the 18-year old defender, signing Antzoulas on a loan deal from Asteras Tripolis for the 2018/2019 campaign. His stint in Italy has been extremely successful as the youngster has put together some convincing displays in the Campionato Primavera 1 (youth Italian league). He recently scored in Fiorentina’s 4:3 win over Juventus with a diving header in the 76th minute, marking his third goal of the season.
He received a perfect belated birthday present (February 4th) after being called up to Fiorentina’s main roster for the first time in his career, along with another youngster from the club’s academies. Antzoulas will wear the number 30 and be on the substitutes bench for Saturday’s clash against Napoli.
If Antzoulas were to make an appearance for Fiorentina’s first team, the 2 million euro buyout option in his loan contract will automatically be activated and Asteras Tripolis will given that sum of money for the talented youngster.
Since 2017, Antzoulas has been representing the under 19 Greek national team, and he’s competed in five matches while scoring one goal along the way. Big things are expected of Antzoulas moving forward.
