Omonoia earned an important 2-1 win over AEL in Nicosia in the battle for 4th place. The visitors were better in the first half, however a beautiful effort and finish from Demetris Christophi gave the hosts the lead just before half time. AEL managed to equalize with a free kick by Pitti, but the scores remained level for just a few minutes as Derbyshire scored to gave the Prasinoi all 3 points. Despite the result, Omonoia are still 5th but now trail AEL by only a point.

AEK defeated Anorthosis 1-0 and cut APOEL’s lead atop the standings. The first half was balanced, however Anorthosis fell to 9-men before half time. First, Joao Victor saw a second yellow card and then Guillherme was given a straight red card for a kick on his opponent. AEK went on full attack in the second half while Anorthosis were desperately trying to hold the clean sheet. The winning goal for the Larnakeis finally came a few minutes before the end from Charalambides, bringing a sigh of relief to the home crowd. The result leaves AEK 2 points behind second placed Apollon and 6 points behind first placed APOEL.

Second placed Apollon hosted first placed APOEL in the most important game of the week, with the hosts coming away with a 1-0 win. A goal by Fotis Papoulis made the difference just before half time, in a not so entertaining first half. In the second half, both teams improved their performance allowing for more open play but with neither team finding the back of the net. The win regenerated Apollon’s hopes to catch the leaders APOEL, who now have a 4 point advantage atop the standings.

Aris earned 3 important points in their battle to stay out of relegation trouble by defeating Karmiotissa 3-2 at home. Aris found the first goal of the game through Welna, but an own goal from Rogerio Martins restored the balance at 1-1. Rogerio Martins redeemed himself by scoring a spot kick in the 72nd minute to put his side in front 2-1. Although the visitors lost Arocha with his sending off, they managed to equalize for a second time in the game with Vattis’ goal. Two minutes before the end, Maragkoudakis scored the game’s 5th goal to give the hosts the win, bringing them level with Karmiotissa in the standings. Both teams are now 6 points clear from relegation.

A game of little importance was played in Dasaki between Ethnikos Achnas and Ermis ending in a 1-1 draw. Both goals came late in the game with the hosts opening the scoring through Iluridze, while Ermis equalized with Martynyuk in the final minutes. Ermis continue to lead the second group and now have the same number of points as Anorthosis, who are in last place of the first group. Ethnikos are in 3rd place, 2 points above Aris and Karmiotissa.

Salamina and Doxa stayed goalless in the last game of the week for the second group. The only notable chance in the first half was a missed penalty by Makriev for Salamina which was kept out by goalkeeper Alexander Negri. In the second half, Doxa were the better side and more desperate for points, however nothing changed with both teams sharing the spoils. Salamina remained 2nd in the group while Doxa now sit 6 points away from 5th place and the survival from relegation.
