APOEL started the game as the better side, but as the game progressed Apollon balanced out the play and showed that they were the team that wanted the Cup more. Despite playing with 10 players for most of the second half (Alex Da Silva saw red in the 61st), Apollon took home the trophy after Paulo Vinicius’ 79th minute header gave the “visitors” the 1-0 win. This year’s Cup is Apollon’s ninth in club history.

APOEL, who won the league title but failed to win the double, will now make plans for the offseason with their first big change coming in the head coach position as it was publicized that coach Thomas Christiansen will not continue with the team.
