Asteras Tripolis have their sights set firmly on European football next season after a 3-1 away win over struggling Kerkyra on Sunday saw them retain fifth place with two matches to play.
Kosmas Tsiliandis’ 40th-minute opener and a second-half double from Michalis Manias saw the Arcadians home comfortably against a poor Kerkyra side, for whom Thuram mustered an 85th-minute consolation goal.
The result means Asteras hold on to that crucial fifth place - which offers the last ticket at a chance to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, while Kerkyra lie on the brink of relegation.
The islanders are five points adrift of safety with just two matches to play, so nothing short of a pair of victories would save them now.
The team above them, Lamia, did themselves no favors on Sunday as they lost 1-0 at Panaitolikos, while elsewhere, mid-table partners in crime PAS Giannina and Larissa shared the spoils of a goalless draw at the Zosimades stadium.
