Over the weekend, reports from Turkey stated that Besiktas were interested in signing the Benfica star. However, Mitroglou’s agent, Panagiotis Galariotis, spoke with Portuguese newspaper O’ Jogo saying that these rumors were ridiculous and that the president of Benfica will begin any negotiations for Mitroglou’s transfer at €40 million.
Galariotis went on to say that Mitroglou is happy at Benfica and his priority is to stay with the Portuguese champions. Mitroglou had the best season of his career with the Eagles scoring 27 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions. The 29-year old has a contract with Benfica until 2020.
As for Benfica's other Greek star, Andreas Samaris, the club values the player at €20 million. There have been conflicting reports from Portugal stating that Samaris will renew his contract with the club (ends in 2019) while other reports say that Benfica will look to sell the Greece international with many clubs, mainly from England and Zenit from Russia, interested in his acquisition.
