Calathes nominated for Euroleague MVP award
Panathinaikos’ Nick Calathes is one of nine players in the running for this year’s Euroleague MVP award.
The Greek guard has had an exceptional season with the Greens and has rightfully earned one of nine nominations for this season’s Euroleague MVP. In addition to the Panathinaikos star, Nando de Colo (CSKA Moscow), Brad Wanamaker (Fenerbahce), Jan Vesely (Fenerbahce), Paulius Jankunas (Zalgiris), Alexey Shved (Khmiki), Tornike Shengelia (Baskonia), Sergio Rodríguez (CSKA Moscow), and Luka Doncic (Real Madrid) are also in the running for this year’s Euroleague MVP honor.
Nick Calathes currently averages the most assists and steals per game in the league with 8.5 APG and 1.7 SPG. His assist to turnover ratio tops the charts at 3.83:1 and hr has recorded the highest Index rating this season at 42 in a game against Anadolu Efes. The 29-year old is 9th in the scorers chart with 14.5 PPG and was announced the league’s MVP for the month of November.
The 16 coaches from each Euroleague team will vote for one of the above players (or an additional player if they choose) and the top three candidates will be available to the fan vote. The MVP winner will be announced at the Final-4 in Belgrade.
