Champions End Season on a High, Five-star PAOK hammer Kerkyra
GREEK superleague - matchday 30
|Panetolikos||0 - 2||Olympiacos|
|PAOK||5 - 1||Kerkyra|
Olympiacos and PAOK ended their Superleague campaigns with victories. The Erythrolefki defeated Panetolikos 0-2 while the Dikefalos tou Vora defeated Kerkyra 5-1.
Olympiacos caretaker boss Takis Lemonis ended his third spell at the club on a high as the SuperLeague champions finished their league campaign with a 2-0 away win at Panaitolikos on Sunday.
Having already wrapped up the title last weekend, Olympiacos ended what has been an eventful season to say the least on a winning note as goals from Alejandro “Chori” Dominguez and Tariq Elyounoussi sealed the points in Agrinio.
Following the Greek Cup semi-final elimination to AEK in midweek it was imperative for Lemonis and his players to complete their SuperLeague commitments with a victory and they did not disappoint.
Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis has already pledged to spend big in the summer in order to improve on this season’s campaign, especially in Europe, and according to local media reports Frenchman Remi Garde is set to be appointed as the Piraeus club’s new coach.
In-form PAOK showed they are the team to beat heading into the SuperLeague playoffs after the Salonica club thumped Kerkyra 5-1 at the Toumba in their final match of the regular season.
PAOK, who dispatched Panathinaikos in mid-week to claim a place in the greek Cup final against AEK, were comfortable winners thanks to goals from Ergys Kace, Efthymis Koulouris, Diego Biseswar, Amr Warda and Aleksandar Prijovic.
Giorgos Pamlidis temporarily equalized for the Corfu team just after the half-hour mark, a false indicator that they might get some from what was in the end a very one-sided contest for Vladan Ivic’s PAOK team.
Runner-up PAOK now enters the playoffs with two points, holding a one-point advantage over Panathinaikos. AEK and Panionios will both start the playoff mini-league on zero points.
