Chavez says yes to Panathinaikos
After long negotiations with Andres Chavez, the Argentinian striker has said yes to Panathinaikos’ offer and is ready to travel to Greece to sign with the Athenian club.
Early Saturday morning, Panathinaikos came to an agreement with Chavez’s current club Boca Juniors for his move to Athens and all that remained to complete his transfer was a positive response from the 26-year old striker. The player asked for a slight delay to give his final response and after long negotiations between his agent and the Prasini, the Argentinian striker said yes to Panathinaikos’ final offer.
Chavez will depart for Greece in the coming days and will sign a new deal with Panathinaikos. According to sportfm.gr, the deal between the Greek side and Boca Juniors closed at €2.6 million. Panathinaikos will give 50% of the transfer fee (€1.3 million) now and the remaining €1.3 million over a three year period, unless Chavez finishes as the Superleague’s leading scorer this year. In that case, the Trifylli will give the remaining amount immediately.
Chavez confirmed the reports of his agreement with Panathinaikos stating to a local radio station “I have spoken with my family and I have made the decision to continue my career in Greece. For me, Boca Junior is not finished and I will not forgot about the supporters love.”
The Argentinian striker will come to Panathinaikos as the club’s “anti-Berg” with hopes of leading the Green attacking line this season. Chavez has been with Boca Juniors since 2014 and made 64 appearances and scored 18 goals in two seasons with the club. Last season he played on loan at Sao Paolo where he made 30 appearances and scored 9 goals.
