Larissa can start preparing for the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup after thumping Xanthi 3:0 in their first leg matchup at the AEL FC Arena. The man of the match was in-form Thomas Nazlidis who netted two goals for the hosts in the 28th and 32 minutes. The 30-year old striker opened the scoring with a spot kick that was won by Deletic from Casado’s offense inside the penalty area. Four minutes later, Aganovic’s effort was denied by Zivkovic, however Nazlidis was there to slot home the rebound and give his side a comfortable 2:0 lead. Leozinho capped off a great, snowy day in Larissa by adding a third goal in the dying moments of the game to give the Vyssini a decisive 3:0 advantage into the second leg. An explosive 2-minutes in the second half was enough for Panionios to down OFI in Nea Smyrni on Thursday. Yesil opened the scoring in the 77th minute with his shot from inside the penalty area and before OFI could respond, Hajsafi netted two minutes later to give a comfortable 2:0 advantage to Panionios going into the second leg. The hosts ended the match with 10-men after Yesil saw a second yellow in the final moments and will serve his suspension against Kerkyra in Panionios’ next Superleague match. The second leg will be played in Crete after the New Year with Panionios holding the clear advantage for a place in the Last 8.
A late goal from Favaro gave Levadiakos a narrow 1:0 victory over PAS Giannina in Livadeia in their first of two matches in the Greek Cup Last 16. A 40-meter rocket free-kick from Mitropoulos hit the woodwork and fell in the path of Favaro, who put home the rebounded effort late on. Despite PAS Giannina’s superiority for most of the match, the Epirotes will host Levadiakos with a 1:0 disadvantage in January’s second leg.
