Comandante denied by Korovesis
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 1
|Platanias||1 - 1||Panathinaikos|
Panathinaikos’ newest signing, Andres Chavez, scored on his debut for the club, however Korovesis’ goal six minutes later saw Panathinaikos and Platanias play to a 1-1 draw in Crete.
Panathinaikos showed many weaknesses in their SuperLeague opener on the road to Platanias and failed to leave Crete with all three points. The club’s new #9, Andres Chavez, entered the game as a substitute and wasted no time to score his first goal with the Prasini, putting away Panathinaikos’ only chance of the match. “Comandante” was sent in on goal by Luciano and the striker made no mistake to give the visitors the lead with a well placed, left footed effort in the 72nd minute.
However, Panathinaikos’ advantage did not last long as Dikamona’s strong run from the left side found Korovesis at the top of the penalty area and his effort found the back of the net to bring Platanias level six minutes later. The scoreline remained until the end, leaving Panathinaikos already four points behind in the title race. A reminder, the Trifylli started the season with -2 from last year’s incident against PAOK in the Superleague playoffs.
Moledo also left the match injured which will leave Ouzounidis worried before their Europa League fixture against Bilbao on Thursday. The Prasini are also asking for a sending off on Budnik, who was not given a second yellow card for a hard foul on Moledo.
