The Greek U20 national team pulled off a magnificent comeback to defeat Lithuania 76-72 in the FIBA Europe U20 championships, securing their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
Greece found themselves down by 15 points with 11 minutes remaining (61-46) but the Galanolefki pulled of a great comeback to defeat a very strong Lithuania side 76-72 in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Europe U20 championships in Irakleio. With the scores tied at 71-71 and 37 seconds remaining the MVP of the night, Koniaris, jumped to grab an offensive rebound and 13 seconds later, the PAOK player drained a shot from behind the arch to put Greece ahead. Greece never looked back and secured their place in the semi-finals of the tournament where they will face Spain on Saturday.
In addition to Koniaris, who finished the game with 17 points (5/5 for three point range), Haralampopoulos was once again a key player for Greece with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and assists. Karras and Mouratos also finished with double digit points scoring 12 and 14 points, respectively.
Next up will be Spain on Saturday with hopes of clinching their place in the final.
