OFI marched on to the last 16 of the Greek Cup after defeating Apollon Smyrnis 2-1 in Irakleio. The visitors, who needed a victory to advance to the next round, took the lead in the 62nd minute with a rocket from Kitambala from well outside the penalty area. The result, which would have sent both teams to the next round, did not stand as eight minutes from time, OFI’s Ogboe headed home a corner from the right side to pull the host level. Apollon were reduced to ten men after Bijimine was sent off with a second yellow and in the first minute of stoppage time, Armiche scored the winner for the hosts to complete a great counterattack from the Cretan side.

The result sees OFI win the group as Platanias finish in second with six points. Apollon Smyrnis third with 3 points. Iraklis was the fourth team in the group but withdrew from the competition after being relegated to the Greek third division. Highlights can be found here.

Atromitos cruised past Sparti in Lakonia as the Peristeri side recorded an easy 0-4 victory. The visitors opened the scoring in the 17th minute with Madson before Warda netted two goals within ten minutes (28, 38) to put Atromitos ahead 0-3 at the break. Mensah added a fourth 15 minutes from time to cap off a great display from the Superleague club.

The result secures Atromitos’ place in the next round and will likely see them top the group. They currently sit first in the standings with 7 points while Trikala are second with four points and will play third placed Kerkyra (have three points) for a place in the knockout stages. Sparti finished their Cup campaign with three losses.

Lamia and Xanthi also secured their place in the last 16 of the Greek Cup after recording wins on Tuesday. Lamia prevailed over their local rivals, Apollon Larissas, 0-2 on the road and secured second spot in Group C behind AEK.  Xanthi defeated Panserraikos 1-2 in Serres and remained perfect in group play, racking up nine points in Group F to win the group.
