Cyprus Held to Goalless Draw Against Estonia

FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFYING - GROUP H (MATCHDAY 5)

Cyprus 0 - 0 Estonia

Cyprus were unable to find the breakthrough against Estonia in Saturday’s World Cup Qualifier in Nicosia as the teams played to a goalless draw.

Cyprus remained well off the pace in Group H of World Cup Qualifying after they played to a goalless draw against Estonia in Nicosia. Despite playing without the likes of Soteriou and Charalambides, the Cypriots dominated most of the game, enjoying up to 72% possession at one point, but wasted many opportunities to open the score, especially in the first half.

Estonia came the closest to finding an opener in the first 45 minutes, when Zenjov was denied by the woodwork in the 32nd minute, while Christofi’s cross/shot in the 80th minute, hit the crossbar and stayed out.

The result does not favor either side as they sit tied for 4th place with four points from 5 games.
