AEL Limassol hosted AEK Larnaca at the Tsirion Stadio in Limassol. It was two-way traffic in the early going. Ruben Jurado failed to connect on a header, and Ivan Trickovski was denied by Patryk Procek at the other end. Procek came up large again with saves on Apostolos Giannou and another one on Trickovski. Then a volley came in for Jurado, and this time he connected, but he couldn’t get as much as he wanted on it, and it was an easy save for Tono Ramirez. Neither side could find the back of the net, and the score remained as it had started, with twin goose eggs.

The gameplay was even tighter in the second half. AEK finally created a great chance as Hector Hevel found himself alone with Procek, but he shanked the strike wide. Hevel could only hang his head having squandered such a golden opportunity. Andreas Avraam set up Nils Teixeira at the other end, but the finish was lacking, a fairly weak shot that Tono Ramirez took care of with ease. Scary moments in stoppage time, as newly acquired Jarchinio Antonia latched onto a through, and for some reason, Ramirez came way out of the box to try to play it. Jarchinio made it around Ramirez, but Hevel raced back to foul him, limiting the damage to just a free kick. Alex da Silva stood over the ball for the free kick, but airmailed it over the net, ending any chance of a winner, and the end result was the 0:0 draw between AEL Limassol and AEK Larnaca. For AEL, not a complete waste of time. They pass Apollon and move into 2nd place, but a win would have put them in the lead. Instead, they are a point behind APOEL. AEK remain in 4th place.
