Diamond Stefanidis for second consecutive year
Katerina Stefanidis was crowned the champion of this year’s Diamond League, winning the gold medal for a second consecutive year.
After winning gold at the World Championships a few weeks ago, Katerina Stefanidis won the gold medal medal in the Women’s pole vault at this year’s Diamond League series. The Greek athlete claimed first place for the second year running and proved once again that she is the best Women’s pole vaulter in the world.
Stefanidis beat out American Sandy Morris once again with a jump registered at 4.85 meters. After three successful jumps of 4.55 meters, 4.65 meters, and 4.75 meters, Sandy Morris could not clear 4.85 meters and remained in second place behind the Greek pole vaulter.
Stefanidis has had a tremendous run in the last year winning gold at the 2016 European championships, the 2016 Olympic games, the 2016 Diamond League, 2017 European Indoor Champions, and recently the World Championships in London
Greece holds the gold medal in the women’s pole vault at the Diamond League since 2015 when Nikol Kyriakopoulou was crowned champion of the series before Stefanidis claimed gold in 2016 and 2017.
