Donis’ availability for Greece to be decided on Saturday
Last week, Tasos Donis suffered a shoulder injury in training with Stuttgart, leaving him sidelined for 4-5 weeks. However, this Saturday's medical tests will determine if Donis will return sooner than expected and possibly be available for Greece’s playoffs against Croatia.
The 21-year old has already begun physical therapy and is working hard to recover in time for Greece’s European playoffs against Croatia on November 9th and 12th. Although the severity of his injury ruled him unavailable for the playoffs, on Saturday Donis will undergo an MRI scan to evaluate his progress.
If the injury has healed or improved better than originally expected, the youngster will likely be called up by Michael Skibbe and his availability will be more of a gametime decision as opposed to an absolute absence. Donis was a real threat for Greece in the later stages of qualifying and his presence in the national team roster will surely leave Michael Skibbe with an additional threat for the Greek attacking line.
