Donis ruled out for final qualifiers
Tasos Danois will be unavailable for Greece’s final qualifiers away to Cyprus and at home to Gibraltar after suffering an injury in training.
One of Greece’s most in-form players in recent qualifiers, Tasos Donis, will be unavailable for the Ethniki’s final two matches away to Cyprus (7-Oct) and at home to Gibraltar (10-Oct). The young Greek ace suffered a muscle strain injury, a problem that he carried over from club play with Stuttgart.
Donis’ absence will be felt in the Greek attack as he provides pace on the wings and has great ability one-on-one with the opposition. Mitroglou’s return from injury (missed qualifiers against Estonia and belgium) will surely see him start up front while an in-form Lazaros Christodoulopoulos’ could very well take Donis’ place out on the wings in Greece’s starting XI.
Andreas Samaris has also felt under the weather the last few days, suffering from gastroenteritis and might not recover in time for Saturday’s match in Nicosia.
