APOEL managed to grab their second consecutive win in league play after defeating Doxa 2-0. In a mediocre match, the Galazokitrinoi took all three points thanks to goals from Pote in the first half and a second from De Camargo in stoppage time. The defending champions sit in fourth place, trailing the leaders Anorthosis by five points, but still have two postponed games in hand.
The weekend’s derby between Anorthosis and Apollon did not produce a winner as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. Apollon opened the scoring through Maglica early in the first half and things seemed to be going well for the visitors after Anorthosis were reduced to 10-men when Shehu was sent off with a straight red. Despite playing with 10 players, Anorthosis found the equalizer through Schildenfeld’s header in the 71st minute, a score which remained at the final whistle. After seven games, Anorthosis continue to lead the table with 15 point while Apollon sit in seventh with two games in hand.
AEK Larnaca visited Limassol and blew-out local side Aris, 0-5. With an emphatic performance, the Larnakeis cruised to victory with goals from Taulemesse (2), Trickovski (2), and Acoran. The visitors managed to net four first half goals and a fifth in the second half as they sit in second spot in the First Division standings.
Ermis grabbed a shock 2-1 home victory over Omonia to move out of the relegation zone. Emeghara opened the scoring for the hosts in the 14th minute before Maduro equalized for Omonoia just before halftime. Both teams had their chances in the second half, but it was Emeghara who netted his second of the night in the 64th minute to give Ermis a great win over a struggling Omonia side.
Alki dominated Olympiacos in Nicosia to record an easy 0-3 victory on the road. Goals came from Fabricio, Semedo, and Duventru as Alki look to stay away from relegation trouble, while Olympiakos sit 10th with seven points.
Pafos were the weekend's other surprise side as they escaped with a 0-1 win in Limassol over AEL. Although AEL held the possession and created the majority of the chances, it was Pafos who threatened on the counterattack and grabbed a 90th minute winner with Fylaktou to shock the home side. The result moves the newly promoted club into 3rd place as AEL remain back in 5th place, tied with APOEL on ten points.
Nea Salamina and Ethnikos Achnas remained goalless which keeps both sides in the relegation zone. In a mediocre game, neither team was satisfied with the result and shortly after the final whistle, Salamina’s coach Liasos Louka was sacked by the club.
