Erik Moran joins AEK for the club’s second winter transfer
During Tuesday afternoon, AEK Athens announced that Spanish defensive midfielder Erik Moran has signed on a three-year deal from CD Leganes.
On their official website, AEK released the news. “AEK FC announces the transfer of the Spanish defensive midfielder Erik Moran Arribas, who signed a three and a half year contract. He chose the number 39 on his shirt.”
The exact transfer fee was not mentioned. Following the press release, Moran shared his ambitious plans with his new team. “I have come to a big club which is fighting for the championship, and I hope to help as much as I can,” stated Moran. “I am at my best when I have the ball at feet and can search for passes. I know that AEK can win the championship and are still involved in European competition.”
Given that Jakob Johansson, a player which likes to protect the defence, is still injured, this could be a decent bit of business by AEK. Erik Moran has played for established Spanish clubs such as Zaragoza and Athletic Bilbao, also competing with the Spanish U17, U18 and U19 teams. The 26-year old will be hoping that his first move abroad turns out successfully.
After Iranian Masoud Shojaei joined a few days ago, Erik Moran is AEK’s second transfer of the winter window. Taking into account AEK’s lack of squad depth and the serious injuries suffered, head coach Manolo Jimenez will be relieved that new blood is being introduced. Tall Austrian midfielder Raphael Holzhauser has also long been linked with the Athenian giants.
