ESPN have revealed that Milwaukee Bucks superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is the midseason favourite for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award.
ESPN polled the ESPN Forecast panel of experts for their votes halfway through the season, with Antetokounmpo the slight favourite over Houston Rockets superstar James Harden.
Antetokounmpo received nearly 55% of first place votes based on a poll that asked panelist for their first, second, and third choice for the award.
Both Antetokounmpo and Harden combined for all the first-place votes in the poll while other notable nominees include LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Kawhi Leonard (Toronto Raptors), and Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors).
Harden is the reigning MVP after picking up the award for the 2017/2018 season, though Antetokounmpo’s role in Milwaukee’s impressive start to the season threatens to prevent Harden from retaining his crown.
