EuroLeague stretch run crucial for Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos’ final stretch of games in the EuroLeague will be crucial for a side desperate to clinch home court advantage…

Watch the Euroleague derby between Panathinaikos & Olympiacos LIVE from AGONAsport.com on Friday, March 2nd.

It was just a few weeks ago that Panathinaikos looked certain to qualify for the EuroLeague playoffs with home court advantage in hand. Now, after a handful of losses away from home, the Trifylli are at risk of losing out on home court advantage – and maybe even a playoff berth altogether.

The race for fourth place in the EuroLeague has heated up with four sides tied on a 14-9 record heading into Round 24 action this week. Real Madrid, Zalgiris Kaunas, and Khimki Moscow Region have joined the Trifylli in the race for the final home advantage berth in the playoffs after a poor stretch of results from the Greek Champions opened the door to fourth place in the standings.

Despite threatening the likes of Olympiacos and Fenerbahce for higher spots at one point this season, a terrible stretch of road performances that saw Panathinaikos lose their last four games on the road has the Trifylli’s home court advantage hopes on the ropes.

Fortunately for the Trifylli, there is still a very good chance that the club can rebound from their midseason funk and claim a home advantage berth; however, doing so will be easier said than done as the EuroLeague heads into crunch time.
