Karnezis is coming off of a full season in the Italian Serie A with Udinese, counting 33 starting XI appearances and is considered one of the club’s most valuable players. As a result, he has drawn the attention of numerous European teams including Fenerbahce, Napoli, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace.

As of late, Fenerbahce have shown vivid interest in Karnezis although they have not yet submitted any official offer to Udinese. Last season’s Turkish runners-up are in search of a goalkeeper to replace Volkan Demirel in case the Turkish international leaves the club during the offseason. In addition to Karnezis, Fenerbahce have also expressed interest in Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Ospina.

Given that Karnezis’ contract expires in 2019, it should not come as a surprise if Udinese decide to sell the player if an offer comes in that meets the club’s demands. Although the Zebrette are open to negotiations for the 31-year old, it is rumoured that they do not intend on giving him up easily this summer.

In the case that Karnezis does leave Udine, Udinese recently extended Simone Scuffet’s contract until 2022. The young goalkeeper has shown great potential and could be given the #1 jersey if Karnezis where to leave.

Karnezis is not the first Greek international that has caught the attention of Fenerbahce with some reports stating that the Turkish club have also looked at Hamburg’s Kyriakos Papadopoulos to strengthen their back line.
