The Greek U21 national team put together a five star performance at home to Moldova in Euro 2019 qualifying, defeating their opponents 5-1 at the Peristeri stadium in Athens.
After beginning their Euro 2019 qualifying campaign with a 0-2 away win to Belarus on Friday, Greece U21 defeated Moldova 5-1 in their second match in Group 1. The Ethniki Elpidon got on the board early when Galanopoulos found the back of the seven minutes into the match clocking in his second goal in two matches.
Moldova scrambled an equalizer with Cauras in the 34th minute, but Greece re-took the lead before the halftime whistle with Koulouris’ goal in first half stoppage time. In the second half, Greece picked up where they left off as Limnios gave Greece a 2-goal advantage two minutes after the re-start.
Koulouris added his name to the scoresheet in the 57th minute for a second time, registering his third goal in two matches, to put Greece 4-1 ahead. The stellar Greek display was capped off with a successful spot kick from Androutsos in the 78th minute.
Greece currently sit atop of Group 1 with six points from two matches, three ahead of Croatia who have only played one match thus far. Greece’s other main opponents in the group, the Czech Republic, have yet to play a qualifying match in this campaign.
