Five teams fighting to save their Super League lives

Five teams fighting to save their Super League lives

The battle to avoid the drop is heating up. While Platanias are practically dead and buried, four other clubs are desperately trying to stay alive in the Super League.

Watch the critical SuperLeague derby between PAOK & AEK LIVE from AGONAsport on Sunday, March 11th!

Platanias have endured a nightmare campaign, earning a mere 10 points in 24 Super League matches and winning on just two occasions. Nine points from safety with six games to go, the Chania club can probably begin preparing for life in the Football League. However, there is a large question surrounding who will join them in Greece’s second tier. Apollon Smyrnis currently occupy the second relegation spot, but they are level on 19 points with AOK Kerkyra.

Lamia, the second promoted team from last season along with Apollon, sit four points above Smyrnis and Kerkyra. AEL have two more points in 12th place, but despite being six points away from the relegation zone, the Larissa club are looking nervously over their shoulder. In the closing weeks of the Super League season, the relegation contenders will compete in crucial duels against each other.
