In an interview with sportfm.gr the president of the Galanolefkos Faros, Nikos Flekkas, spoke out about what exactly happened in the stands of the Bilino Polje stadium in Zenica. Flekkas said “As the Faros it is our responsibility to be wherever the national team plays. The Bosnian police treated and handled us well. The people that attacked us were not the fans. Out of nowhere the stadium security moved against us. We went to celebrate the result and they would not let us. Even 5-6 people were hit by the security. Probably, your are not allowed to celebrate there. They insulted us without any reason to. The Bosnian people called us Turks and they continuously shouted ‘Macedonia’.”
He went on to say that both times the Faros has traveled to Zenica they were in danger. He also mentioned the actions of the Greek players to approach the stands and defend their fans. Flekkas stated “With the actions of the Greek players to come by our side when the situation got out of hand, shows how the fans and the team are united and work as one.”
