A poor fourth quarter was enough for Olympiacos to taste a 74-68 defeat to Zalgiris in Lithuania in Thursday’s Euroleague action.
Olympiacos came close to another impressive win in the Euroleague on Thursday, but came up short in Lithuania against Zalgiris 74-68. The Erythrolefki once again dealt with many injury problems as Milutinov, Printezis, Mantzaris, Agravanis, and Tili were all unavailable for the round 15 clash.
The visitors held the upper-hand for the first 30 minutes of play, but a poor fourth quarter, where Olympiacos was outscored 26-15, saw the Greek side taste their fourth defeat of the season. Olympiacos finished the game with a disappointing 15 turnovers, compared to Zalgiris’ 7, while the hosts had a great night from behind the arch going 9/19 (47%).
Papanikolaou led Olympiacos with 11 points as Thompson came close to a double-double with 10 points and 8 rebounds. McLean also put together a good display for the visitors with 9 points and 7 rebounds . For the hosts. Pangos and Milaknis finished the game with 14 points each.
Olympiacos finish the first half of the season in second place with an 11-4 record. First placed CSKA Moscow play on Friday and hold a 11-3 record. Zalgiris are have a recording breaking season with 10 wins from their first fifteen matches.
