From The Bench To Top Of Scoring Charts For Ansarifard
Despite not having won a consistent starting role for Olympiacos, Karim Ansarifard is still having a superb season. The stats suggest that the Iranian striker should be playing more as when he does he scores and Olympiacos win.
The 27-year-old Ansarifard hs six league goals this season, enough to share the Super League scoring lead alongside Pedro Conde from PAS Giannina.
Ansarifard has only played 595 minutes of league football this season. He has only started six matches and played in nine total. In addition to his six goals, the former Panionios man has also chipped in with two assists.
Better yet for Olympiacos, Ansarifard’s goals have been decisive. Olympiacos have won every match that the Iranian has found the net in including last week’s 3-1 win over Apollon which came about with his brace.
Another remarkable stat shows Ansarifard scoring three times the goals that fellow strikers Uros Djurdjevic and Emmanuel Emenike have scored. That holds true even if you add in Ben Nabouhane, and Seba, two players who have played as a striker this season.
Manager Takis Lemonis seems to be coming around to the notion that he prefers Ansarifard as his main man up front. Frozen out by former boss Besnik Hasi, Ansarifard’s efficient strike rate looks to be giving him a new lease on life in Piraeus.
