Panachaiki became the first team to mathematically earn promotion to the Football League while Apollon Kalamarias and Apollon Larissas hold comfortable leads atop Groups A and B. Ionikos and Ergotelis remain neck-and-neck in the final group of the Greek third division.
Group A: Apollon Kalamarias defeated Apollon Paralimniou 0-1 on the road and increased their lead atop the Group A standings to seven points as second placed Doxa Dramas had a bye week.
Group B: Apollon Larissas took a huge step towards next year’s Greek Football League as they came away with a big 0-1 win over second placed Karaiskakis in the weekend’s derby. The win put the team from Larissa seven points ahead of their opponents. Olympiacos Volou dominated their city rivals Niki Volou 4-0 but remain 10-points adrift the group leaders.
Group C: Panachaiki were the first team to earn promotion to next year’s Football League after PAO Vardas fell 0-2 at home to Thyva. Although Panachaiki had a bye week, the result mathematically secured their place in next year’s second division, holding a 13-point lead with just four games remaining.
Group D: The promotion fight in the final group of the Greek third division remains a close one with Ionikos and Ergotelis battling it out for a place in next year’s Football League. Both teams were victorious over the weekend with Ionikos defeating Ermis Zonianon 3-1 at home while Ergotelis defeated Agios Ierotheos 0-1 on the road. Ionikos hold a two point advantage over the Cretan side, but have played one extra game.
