The NBA has announced that Giannis Antetokounmpo is the leading vote-getter for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game through the first returns of fan voting.
The Milwaukee Bucks star has amassed 863,416 votes thus far to lead the entire league in voting, with superstar Lebron James coming up second in voting thus far with 856,080 votes.
After making his All-Star debut last season, Antetokounmpo now looks certain to not only make to the mid-season classic but perhaps become a team captain for the game.
The NBA decided at the end of last season that the league would be shifting from its traditional East versus West format to a two-captain format, with each captain picking their starters and reserves for the game.
Captains and starters will be announced 18 January, while reserves, as voted on by NBA head coaches, will be revealed 23 January.
The complete All-Star teams will then be unveiled 25 January, although it's unclear if the order of the captains' picks will be revealed.
The 2018 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place on 18 February at the iconic Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Fans, who will account for 50 % of the vote, can continue voting for the Greek Freak via multiple outlets which can be viewed here. The fastest and easiest way is to post on your social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,e tc.) with Giannis Antetokounmpo accompanied by #NBAVote.
