Gold for Kagialis/Mantis, Silver for Karachaliou
It was a successful World Cup series in Santander for the Greek team as Pavlos Kagialis/Panagiotis Mantis celebrated gold in the Men’s 470 while Vasileia Karachaliou won silver in the Women’s Laser Standard event.

Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis celebrated the gold medal in the Men’s 470 event at the Sailing World Cup Series in Santander. Despite finishing in seventh place in today’s medal race, the Rio bronze medalists had built a great lead in the previous races and comfortably won the gold medal. The Greek duo finished with 36 point deductions. Silver went to the Austrian team with 42 point deductions and bronze went to Italy with 43 deductions.
From day one of the competition, Karachaliou was in the running for medal in the women’s Laser Standard event. In Sunday’s medal race, she put together a great performance, finishing in second place and secured the silver medal in the competition. Karachaliou finished with 65 points deductions while gold went to Evi Van Acker from Belgium (43 deductions) and bronze went to Dolores Franschini from Uruguay (66 deductions).
