Great Sportsmanship From Sloukas
During Fenerbahce's celebrations for winning the 2017 Euroleague title, Kostas Sloukas congratulated the Angelopoulos brothers for Olympiacos’ run and went into the Olympiacos locker room for a few minutes.
On Sunday, Fenerbahce defeated Olympiacos 80-64 to win their first Euroleague title in club history. After the final buzzer, the Fenerbahce players celebrated the win in front of the home “fans,” however Kostas Sloukas cut his celebrations short to congratulate his former team.
The former Olympiacos player first went to the owners of Olympiacos BC, Panagiotis and Giorgios Angelopoulos, and said “Congratulations for making it this far and congratulations for this year’s run.” Sloukas then continued on to the Olympiacos locker room where he stayed for a few minutes and talked with his former teammates.
This year’s Euroleague title is the third of Sloukas’ career after having won the Championship in 2012 and 2013 with Olympiacos.
In his post game interview with ERT, Sloukas stated that the Euroleague Championship was the best gift for his name day which was celebrated today, May 21. He also discussed his plans for the National Team stating that if he is healthy, he will join the Galanolefki for the 2017 Eurobasket tournament.
