Greece move into 2nd of FIBA Power Rankings
Greece climbed into 2nd place of FIBA’s Power Rankings before the upcoming Eurobasket tournament.
Greece climbed one spot in FIBA’s Power Rankings into second place, leaving Serbia behind in third place before the upcoming Eurobasket tournament. The jump comes after two dominating performances against Romania and Great Britain in recent friendlies in Patra. Despite Sergio Llull’s injury, Spain remained in first place and will go into the tournament as the favorites to win the competition.
FIBA released the following statement in regards to Greece’ ranking: “How many other teams do you know that could get wins of +58 and +28 against FIBA Eurobasket 2017 participants? In just two days!? Greece are obviously playing with something to prove. Big game coming up for them on August 11 against Serbia in Belgrade, that will be a true test of their power.”
Power rankings result from expert judgments on the progress of the national team and from results in friendly matches.
