Greece move past absences and Antetokounmpo shock
Despite the shocking news of Antetokounmpo’s absence from the upcoming Eurobasket tournament, Greece recorded their second friendly win over Great Britain, 88-84.
After a friendly 72-68 win over Great Britain on Friday, in what was more of a training session, Greece matched up against Great Britain once again on Saturday as both teams prepare for Eurobasket 2017. The Greek team, who were informed before tip-off that Giannis Antetokounmpo will not partake in the upcoming Eurobasket, put together a good displayed depister key absences including Printezis, Bourousis, and Papapetrou.
Greece defeated Great Britain 88-84 with Nikos Pappas leading the Galanolefki with 22 points. Papagiannis finished with double digit points (11 points) along with youngster Dinos Mitoglou who put up 10 points.
The Greek team returned to Athens on Sunday and will prepare for the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament, their final pre-Eurobasket competition. The Episimi Agapimeni will play against the likes of Serbia, Italy, and Georgia before Eurobasket tips-off at the end of the month.
