Greece improved to 44th in the FIFA World Rankings for the month of April with 657 points, climbing one place from last month’s rankings. The rankings took into account both international friendly fixtures in March against Switzerland and Egypt where the Ethniki recorded one win and one loss with 1:0 scorelines.
Greece’s UEFA Nations League opponents currently occupy the following positings: Hungary (50th), Finland (63rd), and Estonia (94th). Before the Nations League kicks off in September, the Galanolefki will play an international friendly on May 15th against Saudi Arabia, who currently sit 70th in the FIFA World Rankings. Despite their low ranking, Saudi Arabia managed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia via Asia’s qualification format.
Germany continue to sit top of the rankings and are followed by Brazil, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Switzerland, France, Spain, Chile, and Poland, who round up the top-10.
