Greece is amongst the favorites to medal at the upcoming European Basketball Championships in September. FIBA recently released their Power Rankings for Eurobasket 2017 putting Greece into third place behind Spain and Serbia and ahead of teams like Lithuania, France, Croatia, and Turkey. Power rankings result from expert judgments on the progress of the national team and from results in friendly matches.

FIBA stated “Greece last stood on the podium in 2009. Which was also the last time they had won the U20 gold...until last week! Talk about an omen, oh man! Koufos and Dorsey are out, but still in are the human alphabetic brothers, Bourousis, Calathes, Sloukas, and Papagiannis...a lot of weapons right there.
